Plain answers from people who speak your language
Sổ Sách Việt started in a spare room in Mt Eden, helping friends' parents with their first GST returns (sample). Many of them ran busy shops and found IRD letters stressful.
We still work the same way: small, patient and clear. You can ask the same question twice, in Vietnamese, and nobody will rush you.
“They explained provisional tax to my parents in Vietnamese, slowly, twice. For the first time, our family takeaway knows exactly what to put aside each month.”
Danny (sample) · Family takeaway, Botany
“My salon's GST used to be a shoebox of receipts. Now I snap photos every week and they handle the rest.”
Thảo (sample) · Nail salon owner, Henderson
“Company, payroll and GST were all set up in one meeting. Clear fee, no surprises at the end of the year.”
Hùng (sample) · Builder, Manukau

Common questions
General information only. Your own situation may be different, so ask us before you decide.
Do I need to register for GST?
You must register once your turnover goes over $60,000 in any 12 months, and you can choose to register earlier. We look at your numbers and tell you which is better for you.
When is my IR3 return due?
For most people it is due on 7 July. When you have a tax agent, you usually get more time, often until the following 31 March. We keep track of your dates for you.
Can I switch from my current accountant?
Yes. With your permission we contact your old accountant and IRD to move your file across. It usually takes a week or two, and you do not need to have an awkward conversation.
What records should I keep?
Sales records, receipts for costs, bank statements and invoices you send. Keep them for seven years. Clear photos on your phone are fine.
How much will it cost?
We give you a fixed fee in writing before we start. Most sole traders pay their yearly fee in monthly instalments (sample).
